AAF Memphis Presents 2021 American Advertising Awards Winners

DCA takes Best of Show at 2021 American Advertising Awards


MEMPHIS, TN—AAF Memphis presented its 54th annual American Advertising Awards for creative excellence on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the first ever all virtual Advertising Awards.

This year’s theme was Dr. Addy Horrorpocalypse created by Harvest Creative. Morgan McKinney of Best Shot Co. taught a cocktail class before the show. There were two ticket options available this year. One option included a gift card to support local Memphis restaurants – EnjoyAM, Kelly English, and Chef Tam. The other ticket option was for the show only. A portion of all ticket sales benefited the Welcome to Memphis fund to support our local hospitality workers.

The event honored 38 Gold Addy winners, 29 Silver Addy winners, and 8 recipients for “Best of” awards. In addition, our 3 judges each awarded a judges choice award. This year, a Mosaic Award was given to Speak Creative for their work for the National Civil Rights Museum for Imagine An America. This award recognizes “companies, agencies and individuals whose commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident through their creative work and organization-wide initiatives”.

318 entries were judged by Natasha Clark, Senior Interactive Designer at Gatorworks, Mychael Metcalf, Creative Director for VMLY&R, and Dario Campos, Creative Director at Dieste.

The caliber of work submitted this year reflected the continued excellence our agencies put into their profession. Following the Memphis chapter awards, local winners will compete in the AAF District 7 level of the American Advertising Awards, a three-tiered national competition. District winners will proceed to compete on the national level, which represents the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition for creative excellence.
